THE DIGEST
Altadena Townhall
Altadena residents recently gathered at a town hall meeting to learn about an 18-month cleanup process targeting long-neglected properties and public spaces. Led by Los Angeles County officials, the initiative aims to address health and safety concerns, enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal, and improve quality of life. Residents shared concerns about illegal dumping, overgrown vegetation, and property maintenance issues while expressing hope for sustained community involvement and enforcement. The county emphasized its commitment to collaboration with locals, ensuring progress is visible and impactful throughout the cleanup effort.
Honoring Altadena’s Black Cultural
The 7th annual American Black Film Festival will celebrate Altadena’s significant Black cultural legacy at a special ceremony in Beverly Hills on February 17 at the SLS Hotel. This prestigious event honors the achievements of Black creatives, artists, and trailblazers from Altadena, a community renowned for its rich history and cultural influence. The festival recognizes those who have shaped the narrative of Black arts and culture, fostering creativity and inspiring future generations. As a hub of talent and history, Altadena’s enduring impact on the arts continues to resonate far beyond its borders, making this recognition both timely and well-deserved.
